Severe Weather Watch Bulletins (WWs) and Alert Messages (AWWs)

WWsはSevere Thunderstorm（強烈な積乱雲）や竜巻が発生する可能性がある時に、必要に応じて発令されます。（同等の日本語名は無いでしょうけど、無理に訳すとしたら危険天候警報(WWs)と危険天候速報(AWWs)でしょうか？）

Severe Thunderstorm Watchは強烈な積乱雲の可能性が有る地域、Areaを伝えます。（この場合のSevere Thunderstormは3/4インチ以上の雹（２ｃｍ以上のアラレ）か５０ノット以上の地上風が吹く時と定義されています。Convective SIGMETに似ています。）

Tornado Watchは竜巻の可能性が有る地域を伝えてくれます。　FSSなど含めて色々な人に素早く伝える為に、先にAWWｓと言うのが先行されて、次にWWｓが発令されます。

WATCHと言う単語は、警戒警報みたいな意味合いが強くあります。アメリカの天気予報の番組を見ていると、WATCHにはかなり強い意味が有ると簡単に分かります。

• WWs define areas of possible severe thunderstorms or tornado activity. WWs are unscheduled and are issued as required.
• A severe thunderstorm watch describes areas of expected severe thunderstorms. (Severe thunderstorm criteria are 3/4-inch hail or larger and/or wind gusts of 50 knots [58 mph] or greater.)
• A tornado watch describes areas where the threat of tornadoes exists.
• In order to alert the WFOs, CWSUs, FSSs, and other users, a preliminary notification of a watch called the Alert Severe Weather Watch bulletin (AWW) is sent before the WW. (WFOs know this product as a SAW).
  関係機関に素早く通報する為に、WWが出される前に、先にAWWが発令されます。

Soon after the AWW goes out, the actual watch bulletin itself is issued. A WW is in the following format:
先にAWWsが発令された後に、実際の警報(WWs)が発令されます。　AWWは注意を促すのが目的なのでしょう。

WWの形式は次の様になります。

• Type of severe weather watch, watch area, valid time period, type of severe weather possible, watch axis, meaning of a watch, and a statement that persons should be on the lookout for severe weather.
  警報の種類、地域、期間、危険気象の種類、竜巻の中心軸、警告の目的、注意すべき事柄。
• Other watch information; i.e., references to previous watches.　
  その他の情報　（事前のWatchとの関連とか）
• Phenomena, intensities, hail size, wind speed (knots), maximum cumulonimbus (CB) tops, and estimated cell movement (mean wind vector).
  現象、強度、雹の大きさ、風速、積乱雲の上限、セルの予想進路。
• Cause of severe weather.　危険現象の発生理由
• Information on updating Convective Outlook (AC) products.　警告予報の更新情報

Convective SIGEMTと違う機関から、同じ物に発令されます。　実際では他のInflight Advosiryなどより少し早くか。ほぼ同時期に発令される物なのでしょう。　強烈な積乱雲や竜巻は危険なので、警告的な意味合いが強いと思います。　AWWは、これらの危険な現象を素早く伝える手段なのかと思います。 (WWsとAWWS はSevere ThunderstormとToronadosの警告予報と地域予測です。）
